Employees are key to Pieology because they take their guests from start to finish in crafting their perfect pizza - they are the face of the brand. It takes a lot of employees to keep pizzas flowing smoothly through the line, and as such, Pieology has to hire a lot of people to make sure they are always staffed.
Hiring is by far their top challenge in the restaurant industry today. One of the issues they faced is capturing the good applicants quickly before they take another position somewhere else. Pieology's managers do all their own hiring, but they are often working the line so they are unable to get back to the applicants right away. Once they do, it can be a game of phone tag - and they are often having to use their personal phone to text applicants since most younger applicants do not check email as often anymore. The manual interviewing and hiring process they had was time-consuming, tedious, and not getting the desired results.
In the past 8 months, Pieology worked with Workstream to build out an automated application, interview and hiring platform that is much more efficient for our company. In the last 6 months since they adopted the use of Workstream, Pieology had posted over 40 open positions in just 7 days, and received over 700 applicants across all their 7 locations. Workstream allows for easy communication between employers and applicants via text-messages. It is easier for both employers and applicants to schedule, reschedule and cancel interviews if they could not make it at the last minute. By providing such a convenient communication process, applicants are now more inclined to inform them when they can no longer make it for interviews and Pieology need not waste time waiting for an applicant who did not intend to turn up for the interview.
