We are looking to fill an entry-level benefits coordinator position. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting between $18-$19 DOE, with transferable skills.
Responsible for verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining prior authorization for services. Key duties include communicating with providers and insurance companies, documenting patient and insurance information, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of requests to avoid payment issues. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with office software, computers, and data entry. EPIC experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance: Confirm patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for specific services.
- Obtain authorization: Contact insurance companies to get pre-authorization or pre-certification for scheduled services.
- Manage patient information: Input new patient data, update existing records, and maintain confidentiality.
- Process paperwork: Complete and submit all necessary documentation for authorization and billing.
- Handle denials: Follow up on denied claims and assist with the appeals process, which may include peer-to-peer reviews.
- Maintain records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all requests and decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is often the minimum requirement.
- Experience: Experience in customer service, a medical office, hospital registration, or billing is beneficial.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and data entry is crucial.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to speak with diverse stakeholders.
- Attention to detail: The ability to meticulously review information and maintain accurate records is essential.
- Administrative skills: Experience with general office duties and managing multiple tasks is essential.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
