MeatWorks of Kansas is a small locally owned custom meat processing butcher serving Riley, Manhattan, and surrounding areas. We work with local producers to provide fresh, quality pork and beef to our consumers. Our expert staff is trained in butchering hogs and cattle and will work with both producers and consumers to offer the best meat possible. Job Description
Meat Packagers will work in our local locker performing precision functions involving the preparation and packaging of meat, including seasoning products, making sausage, and smoking meats. This position will also be required to learn meat cuts and grading beef. Other important aspects may be keeping records, tacking customer orders, and running the store front.
Typical Workday May Include:
- Custom beef and pork processing
- Ensuring food safety and quality
- Cleanliness and housekeeping while maintaining a safe working environment
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces at varied heights; moving mechanical parts; fast paced warm/cool environment; standing the entire shift, the use of stairs, and the use of PPE which is required in all areas of the facility
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to package meat
- Ability to lift 50-80lbs.
- Capable of operating the smokehouse and making processed meats
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment; wearing all safety equipment required
- Wednesday and Thursday availability preferred
Benefits & Pay:
- Starting pay $17/hr., could be up to $25/hr. based on level of experience
