Job description:
Frogs to Dogs provides top-notch training and pet services. Our focus is keeping pets happy, safe, and healthy by ensuring that our employees are trained and interacting with them all day long. We are looking for a highly experienced dog trainer to assist with delivering our training programs and to help act as a coach and mentor for our junior trainers. Please note we do train reactive dogs so any candidate must be well versed in the handling and training of reactive dogs.
Dog Trainer
Our Ideal Candidate:
Minimum 5 years of experience working with reactive dogs and coaching their
owners
Shelter or Rescue experience is a huge plus!
Extensive hands-on handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and reactivity levels
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate positively and clearly with
customers
Strong ability to read and respond appropriately to canine body language
Excellent communication skills with both customers and team members.
Reliable, punctual, and equipped with dependable transportation
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing and prioritizing multiple
tasks.
A positive, can-do attitude and adaptability to the dynamic nature of daily tasks
Essential Functions and Duties:
Lead daily training sessions and coordinate support staff in executing training
exercises
Record and share videos and detailed notes for owners, highlighting progress in
training and socialization
Work one-on-one with owners and their pets to ensure positive training outcomes
and experiences
Upload training videos and write clear, informative behavioral descriptions for owners
Provide guidance to owners on managing and reinforcing positive behaviors at home
Collaborate with team members to promote consistent handling techniques and
training goals
Assist in training new staff members in safe, effective dog handling practices
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, even when exposed to the
typical sounds and smells of a kennel setting
Physical Requirements:
This is a physically demanding role requiring candidates to be on their feet for the
entire shift
Must be able to lift, support, and safety handle dogs of varying sizes and
temperaments
Ability to navigate multiple sets of stairs during a shift is essential
