The Role: Leading from the Front
As the Lead Machine Operator, you are the heartbeat of our shop. You will oversee the daily production workflow, ensuring that every customer order is cut to exact specifications while maintaining a high-efficiency shop environment. You will be both a "doer" and a "director," managing inventory and guiding the team to meet tight deadlines safely.
Key Leadership & Operational Responsibilities
- Team Coordination: Lead the morning strategy sessions to assign tasks and optimize the daily production schedule.
- Shop Efficiency: Oversee shop-floor workflow to minimize waste and maximize machine "up-time."
- Precision Processing: Expertly operate hydraulic shears, cold saws, and fully automatic robotic band saws.
- Quality Control: Ensure all orders are picked, cut, and processed with 100% accuracy before delivery.
- Fleet & Logistics: Safely operate a 21' flatbed truck for client deliveries (Louisiana Class D license required) and coordinate delivery routes.
- Inventory and Process Leadership: Ensure team adherence to all company processes. Manage indoor warehouse stock, overseeing forklift operations, receiving, and inventory organization.
- Mentorship: Act as a safety and technical lead, training junior operators on equipment and shop best practices.
What We’re Looking For
We need a leader with a "problem-solver" DNA. You should have a background in fabrication, metalwork, or industrial machine operation, coupled with the following:
- The Lead Mindset: Naturally competitive, highly motivated, and focused on team excellence.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using precision measuring devices (tape measures to the 1/16th, decimals, and fractions).
- Logistics Ready: Valid Louisiana Class D Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift 60 lbs unassisted and remain active in a warehouse environment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with customers and clear communication to direct the shop team.
