Position Overview
The PRP Counselor provides individualized psychiatric rehabilitation services to children as young as five-years-old, adolescents/teens, and adults experiencing mental health challenges. The role helps clients strengthen daily living skills, independence, self-advocacy, and community integration while working toward goals in their Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs). This is a flexible, community-based position. Most services take place in clients’ homes or other appropriate community settings, with office attendance as needed for meetings, training, and agency activities. The position is primarily in person rather than remote or virtual.
What Community-Based Work Looks Like
You will meet clients in person in their homes and other appropriate community settings and travel within the assigned service area. Scheduling may be flexible, but must accommodate client needs, service requirements, documentation, and team coordination. Office visits may be scheduled periodically. Virtual visits are not the primary service model, particularly when working with younger clients.

- Help clients build daily living, coping, problem-solving, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
- Identify barriers to progress and connect clients with relevant community resources and supports.
- Provide crisis support as appropriate and promptly notify the supervisor or Rehabilitation Specialist of crisis situations and significant concerns.
- Maintain timely, accurate client charts and service documentation in the agency’s electronic health record (EHR), consistent with agency policies and applicable COMAR requirements.
- Participate in agency-led groups, community activities, and events as assigned, including at least one agency-led on-site or off-site group or event each month.
- Attend supervision, required trainings, monthly PRP team meetings, and additional meetings as needed.
- Complete related administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
What You Need
- A degree in a health-related field or at least 30 completed credit hours toward a health-related field; OR
