An Ace Hardware Delivery Driver safely transports merchandise, such as tools, grills, and building materials, to residential and commercial customers. This role involves loading/unloading vehicles, providing helpful customer service, performing vehicle safety inspections, and maintaining a clean driving record. Drivers may also operate forklifts, assist in the lumber yard, and process orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliveries: Safely operate company vehicles (box vans, flatbeds, or pickup trucks) to deliver products efficiently.
- Loading/Unloading: Load and unload products, including heavy items (sometimes up to 100 lbs) using forklifts or hand tools.
- Customer Service: Act as a brand representative, providing the "Ace Helpful Promise" to customers at their home or job site.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections, keep vehicles clean, and report any maintenance needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs, invoices, and handle customer signatures.
- Support Roles: Assist in the warehouse or lumberyard, including stocking shelves or assembling furniture, during non-delivery times.
Required Qualifications
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (50–100 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Preferred Skills
- Previous delivery or commercial driving experience.
- Forklift certification.
- Knowledge of local roads and navigation.
- General knowledge of hardware products.
Common Working Conditions
- Significant time spent driving and operating in all weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and climbing in/out of vehicles.
