Bartender
Bartenders are responsible for making alcoholic beverages for bar guests as well as dine-in guests. The bartenders must have an upbeat personality and enjoy communicating with guests. Additional duties include verifying the identification and age requirements of customers before serving any alcoholic beverages, cleaning the bar area clean, directing barbacks with tasks, and keeping the bar stocked. The bartender must have the knowledge of traditional cocktails and the ability to familiarize themselves with the restaurant’s specific drink list. Bartenders must also report guest problems or issues to a supervisor as observed.
Wages
- Hourly Wage: $6.05 per hour
- Eligible for Tips: Yes
- Bonus: Bartenders are eligible for a work performance-based bonus of up to $0.50 for every hour worked during the Season through Sunday, October 11; must work a minimum of 200 hours in total. The associate must work until the date of commitment agreed to at the interview.
Essential Functions
- Perform opening and closing side work.
- TiPS certification preferred but will supply passport if not previously certified.
- Protect the establishment and patrons by following sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Help patrons select food and beverage by presenting the menu, offering cocktails, suggesting courses, answering food preparation questions.
- Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
- Correctly entering orders into the Point of Sale (POS) System.
- Respond to additional patron requirements by inquiring about needs and observing the dining process.
- Maintain table/bar setting by removing courses as completed (pre-bussing); replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses, being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
- Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks as noted in procedures.
- Welcoming customers, reading, listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
- Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
- Checking identification to ensure customers are of the legal age to purchase and consume alcohol.
- Safely serving alcohol and refusing service to any customer who appears intoxicated.
- Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure the bar and tables are well-stocked.
- Handling cash and credit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, and balancing the cash register.
- Maintaining a clean and professional work area at all times.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Positive interpersonal skills.
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.
- Must have basic math skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to stand/walk/bend for up to 12 hours at a time.
- Must be able to perform physical work, including crawling, pushing, bending, and stooping.
- Must be able to work in varying weather (rain, wind, cold temperatures, direct sunlight, or high heat and humidity.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
