Main Responsibilities of a Bartender:
Guest Service
- Greet bar guests promptly and create a welcoming, professional atmosphere
- Take beverage orders accurately from bar guests and servers
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to recipe and presentation standards
- Engage with guests, make recommendations, and handle requests or concerns politely
Beverage Preparation & Knowledge
- Mix, garnish, and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and specialty drinks consistently
- Maintain strong knowledge of drink recipes, wine lists, beer selections, and spirits
- Ensure proper portion control and follow standard pour guidelines
- Monitor drink quality, freshness, and appearance
Cash Handling & POS
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system
- Handle cash, credit, and other payments responsibly
- Open and close bar tabs and complete end-of-shift checkout procedures
Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep the bar area clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift
- Wash glassware and maintain clean bar tools and equipment
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times
Inventory & Stocking
- Stock beer, wine, liquor, mixers, garnishes, and bar supplies
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or waste
- Assist with receiving and storing bar inventory
Safety & Compliance
- Check guest IDs and comply with alcohol service laws
- Monitor guest consumption and refuse service when necessary
- Maintain a safe environment for guests and staff
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate effectively with servers, hosts, kitchen staff, and management
- Support the service team during peak hours
- Assist with side work and opening/closing duties as assigned
