SUMMARY

Intown Ace Hardware has evolved over the last 40 years to become one of the most beloved and successful Ace Hardware stores in the country. Our new Store Manager will continue this operational excellence with the support of the ownership and existing management teams. The Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day success of store operations. They are responsible for maximizing store profitability, along with managing expenses while ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised. The Store Manager is expected to set the example for the rest of the Store Team by executing the mission and values of the organization. Members of Store Management will routinely be called upon to do the jobs or some functions of the job of all their subordinates and therefore should have the skill and capability to perform all the essential functions of all the jobs in the store. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned as needed):


Customer Service –

The Store Manager ensures that all customers are provided with excellent customer service, and builds on the great relationships Intown Ace customers and employees have with our store. Foster a customer-focused environment by training and holding staff accountable for delivering extraordinary customer service. Maintain a clean, neat, and easy-to-shop store environment. Engage with our loyal customer base to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community. Celebrate and recognize successes.  Coach team to continually improve sales/profitability performance. Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience through improved merchandizing or store look and feel.


Operations

Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate appropriate responsibilities and practices to store management and staff to ensure a smooth flow of operations. Oversee hiring, training and development of retail staff with goals for growth and success in their positions. Provide ongoing performance feedback and recognize accomplishments. Provide disciplined leadership including setting clear expectations and holding the team and self accountable for results. Manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Intown Ace Hardware.


Inventory Control –

Maintain accurate inventory through on-hand integrity, adhering to store procedures and best practices, and holding the team accountable for their part. Utilize available inventory reports to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and maximize inventory accuracy.


Financial Management

Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives. Knowledgeable of merchandise on the sales floor, back stock levels, and locations of products. Review store departments with Department Managers and team for improvement opportunities and implement strategies to increase sales and overall customer experience. Be aware of community and company events, weather, holidays, etc. that will positively or negatively impact sales causing the need to focus on staffing and adjust payroll accordingly.


Safety and Compliance –

Foster a safe working environment for both customers and employees. Enforce high standards for store environment to ensure and maintain the best store appearance.


Attendance –

A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required. Working one weekend day is required, both weekend days is preferred, especially in busy seasons.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

A Store Manager inspires, influences, and motivates the management team and store associates by focusing on the growth and development of his/her team. Supervise up to 40 associates in the store, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with relevant policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide motivation and leadership to associates storewide in a fair and impartial manner. Demonstrate high energy and alertness to support the team and customers effectively. High degree of analytical skills, and the ability to resolve issues within retail computer systems (e.g., POS & inventory systems, RF gun, Google Drive, Ace Net, and email. Possess valid in-state driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company’s insurance carrier’s standards. Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties. Move and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds, and fixtures throughout the store. business.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Five to seven years related management experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
