Marina Boatyard Associate

Job Summary:

Entry level position into the marine service industry. This role supports the marina services department by completing daily tasks and projects on marina services and shipyard facility. Reporting to the Boatyard Manager or Assistant General Manager, the Boatyard Associate

The “Dream work is in the Team work!” As a Marina team member, you will be cross trained to perform a variety of tasks across our Marina operations. Being flexible and open to “pitching in” is an essential function of being part of the team! Most marina team members are multi-functional and perform many varied tasks. Especially during emergencies, (storms, floods, etc.) or peak boating times, team members will be called upon to work together and perform functions that may be in addition to their normal job duties. “That’s not my Job”, is not within our Marina operations vocabulary. The more well-rounded the team member, the more opportunities to grow and be considered for future opportunities!


Roles & Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of marina services : Buffing, Waxing, Painting, Polishing and Detailing boats both in the water and inside our heated storage buildings

• Assists to move boats throughout the facility as a part of a team and follows all safety protocols.

• Assists the various Marina Services team members to complete their tasks

• May operate forklift

• Carries out porter duties: empties trash and replaces trash bags, sweeps and mops ship store area, may help with stocking, fueling and general maintenance of the marina.


All other duties perform all other duties as assigned, including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks.


Education and Experience:

• 18 Years of age or older

• HSD or GED equivalent

• Some general maintenance/porter or janitor experience preferred but not necessary.

• Shipyard or marina experience a plus

• Forklift experience a plus

• Positive and friendly attitude

• Works well with others and takes direction and constructive feedback.

• Strong sense of urgency and highly responsive to act quickly and promptly.

• Continuously follows policies and procedures while seeking out new and better ways of accomplishing duties.

• Must be able to understand English and take and follow instructions.


Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed mainly outdoors and subject to inclement weather.

• Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.

• Ability to potentially work in confined spaces.

• Wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, glasses, vests, etc

• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


Work Schedule:

Marinas are opened seven days a week typically from morning to sunset. We strive to provide flexibility, whenever possible, and at the same time we must be able to maintain adequate staffing to meet the needs of our guests. Please note that working full or partial weekends is required.
