Assistant General Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager and Owner/Operator to lead daily restaurant operations and develop high-performing teams across all areas of the business. This role helps ensure the restaurant operates at a high level of efficiency, safety, and profitability while upholding Chick-fil-A’s commitment to outstanding guest service and team member care. The AGM serves as a key leader who connects Directors, Team Leaders, and the Team Members to drive alignment, execution, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Restaurant Operations

  • Assist in managing daily operations across Front of House, Back of House, Drive-Thru, and Catering.
  • Ensure food safety, product quality, cleanliness, and speed of service consistently meet Chick-fil-A standards.
  • Conduct routine operational and safety checks to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant environment.
  • Support labor planning, scheduling, and operational efficiency throughout all dayparts.
  • Help control food cost, labor cost, and waste to support financial goals.
  • Provide oversight and support for catering orders, mobile ordering, and third-party delivery channels.

2. Leadership & Team Development

  • Work closely with the General Manager to coach and develop Directors and Team Leaders.
  • Lead with a servant’s heart, fostering a culture built on respect, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of leaders and team members.
  • Participate in performance coaching, feedback conversations, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Encourage recognition and appreciation to maintain strong morale and engagement.

3. Guest Experience

  • Set the standard for exceptional hospitality by ensuring guests receive fast, friendly, and accurate service.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support systems that measure guest satisfaction and promote continuous improvement.

4. Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting related to sales, labor, and inventory.
  • Help review schedules, time punches, and workforce management systems as needed.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and communicate operational updates and challenges.
  • Support compliance with local regulations, food safety standards, and Chick-fil-A policies.

5. Communication & Strategic Support

  • Serve as a communication bridge between the Owner/Operator, General Manager, and Leadership team.
  • Help implement new initiatives, systems, and programs introduced by leadership or the Support Center.
  • Share insights on team performance, operational opportunities, and guest trends to inform decisions.

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Ability to work 45–50 hours per week with open availability, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in the food service industry; Chick-fil-A experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead through influence and accountability.
  • Professional, dependable, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Passion for leadership development and alignment with Chick-fil-A values.
