Job Purpose

As a Shift Leader, you will play a key role in overseeing restaurant operations during your shift while ensuring excellent food quality, friendly service, and a clean environment for guests. You will support management by leading the team, maintaining operational standards, and helping drive sales and efficiency while delivering a great guest experience.
Key Responsibilities & Job Functions
Lead Shift Operations
- Supervise restaurant operations during assigned shifts to ensure smooth, efficient service.
- Maintain company standards for food quality, guest service, and restaurant cleanliness.
- Monitor operations throughout the shift and make adjustments as needed to keep service running efficiently.
- Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
Support and Develop Team Members
- Assist in training and developing crew members under the direction of management.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure they understand procedures and expectations.
- Help motivate the team to perform at their best and deliver excellent service to guests.
- Step in and assist with crew member duties when needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Communicate with the Team
- Conduct brief team meetings before or during shifts to review daily goals, promotions, procedures, and expectations.
- Communicate updates related to operations, safety, and training to team members.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive, respectful working environment.
Manage Labor and Productivity
- Monitor staffing levels during shifts to ensure proper coverage and efficiency.
- Manage labor usage to help meet company labor cost standards.
- Adjust assignments and workflow as needed to maintain productivity and service speed.
Inventory and Product Management
- Help control inventory levels and ensure product availability during shifts.
- Follow company guidelines to maintain proper product rotation and storage.
- Assist with inventory tracking to meet company GAP (inventory control) standards.
Maintain Restaurant Facilities and Equipment
- Ensure all equipment and facilities are properly used, cleaned, and maintained.
- Follow preventive maintenance procedures and report equipment issues to management.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment.
Cash Handling and Financial Responsibility
- Take responsibility for all cash handling procedures during assigned shifts.
- Ensure registers, safe counts, and bank deposits are completed accurately.
- Enforce proper cash control procedures to protect company assets.
Maintain Professionalism and Compliance
- Ensure personal appearance meets company standards and reflects professionalism.
- Follow and enforce all HR policies, sanitation standards, safety guidelines, and security procedures.
- Maintain compliance with company policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
