JOB TITLE: Day Time Lead Teacher
DIVISION: Learning Center
REPORTS TO: Center Director
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Lead Teacher is responsible for monitoring and providing support to
the instructional area, ensuring that teachers are practicing good
instructional management. When Directors
are unavailable or not in the Center, the Lead Teacher serves as the
point-of-contact for teaching staff and manages Center operations, ensuring a
high quality personal customer experience.
The Lead Teacher communicates staff performance, customer issues, and
student progress to the Center’s Director(s).
The Lead Teacher also delivers instruction as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manages teachers, tasks and time to create balanced and robust instructional sessions
·
Monitors staff to ensure teachers deliverinstruction as designed and that educational Center policies and procedures are
followed
·
Attends to immediate instructor needs, suchas requests for materials or assistance with instruction
·
Assumes teacher responsibilities in emergency scheduling or capacity situations
·
Assists teachers with preparation forinstruction; Gathers materials as appropriate
·
Checks students in and out of the Center
·
Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards with particular attention to
student safety and well-being
·
Opens and closes the Center according to procedures, securing all materials
·
Escalates service or other issues that require Director intervention
·
Teachingrequirements:
1. Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each student
2. Instructs students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
3. Managesstudents, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
4. Evaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignment
5. Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
· Four year degree or equivalent required & Teacher Certification-(current or expired)
· One to two years teaching experience preferred
· Experience using Microsoft Office and other standard business applications used by the Center
· Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
· Knowledge of tablet computers preferred

· Ability to occasionally lift and/or move upto ten pounds
