Your Role
As a Receiving Assistant at Owenhouse Ace Hardware, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Receiving Lead with all incoming inventories and ensuring efficient product availability for customers. A successful team member will go above and beyond in delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards.
Core Responsibilities
Receiving & Stocking Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining the backroom, storage areas, and receiving zone to ensure a tidy, organized, and safe workspace.
- Support the Receiving Lead in protecting merchandise and ensuring proper security measures during the receiving process.
- Assist in sorting and putting away all Ace truck freight within the designated time frame.
- Ensure all customer special orders are pulled and contacted before the end of the day on truck delivery days.
- Organize and put away back stock efficiently to keep Receiving clear and operational.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
- Represent the company professionally to customers and the general public.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and engaging manner.
- Proactively help customers solve problems, ensuring an excellent shopping experience.
- Communicate effectively with the team and management to ensure smooth operations.
General Store Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily Huddle meetings and assigned team tasks.
- Utilize Dexter for internal communication and store updates.
- Manage all position-related correspondence, including emails.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.

What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of spreadsheets is encouraged.
- Analytical ability to investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a retail team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and assist with additional tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack.
- Must be in good physical condition and follow proper lifting procedures.
- Must be able to lift and handle a minimum of 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Ability to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders.
- Ability to work at heights and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to hear, understand, and communicate orally and in writing with customers and staff.
