CStore Manager-United Quality Cooperative

The C-Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, including customer service, sales performance, inventory management, merchandising, cash handling, food safety, regulatory compliance, and employee supervision. This position leads and develops store team members, ensures operational efficiency, maintains a clean and safe shopping environment, and drives profitability while delivering exceptional customer experience and supporting company goals.


Responsibilities

• Model and promote exceptional customer service standards and ensure a positive customer experience.

• Train, coach, and empower employees to provide outstanding customer service.

• Resolve customer concerns and complaints professionally, courteously, and in a timely manner.

• Communicate staffing needs to the Retail Director and Recruiter and assist with recruitment efforts.

• Participate in and maintain required supervisory training and certifications.

• Utilize the company recruiting platform to support hiring and onboarding activities.

• Ensure new employees receive thorough onboarding and job-specific training.

• Conduct regular team meetings to promote communication, engagement, and teamwork.

• Perform employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.

• Prepare and post employee work schedules at least two weeks in advance.

• Provide clear direction, expectations, and leadership to store employees.

• Deliver timely coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.

• Counsel, document, and address employee performance or conduct issues in accordance with company policies.

• Train and develop employees, including the Assistant Manager, to build operational knowledge and leadership skills.

• Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain proper stock levels and minimize out-of-stock conditions.

• Review operational and management reports and take appropriate action to balance inventories and improve performance.

• Verify deliveries for accuracy and ensure proper receiving procedures are followed.

• Maintain product quality and freshness through proper rotation, monitoring, and handling practices.

• Ensure all products are accurately priced and properly displayed.

• Merchandise products in accordance with company standards and promotional guidelines.

• Identify and communicate opportunities to improve sales, profitability, and operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

• Complete all required reports, records, and administrative paperwork accurately and on time.

• Maintain inventory control, cash handling, and cash accountability procedures.

• Enforce safety, security, and loss prevention policies and procedures.

• Manage labor costs and operating expenses within established guidelines and budgets.

• Develop and mentor the Assistant Manager to support succession planning and store performance.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support efficient and successful store operations.


Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in a retail or convenience store environment

• 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory role

• Excellent leadership and communication skills

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Valid Driver’s License

• Access to a car or other motorized vehicle

• Liability insurance on such vehicle

• High School diploma or GED

• Current ServSafe certification preferred; ability to obtain and maintain certification after hire.

• Availability to work any shift or day with a minimum 45–50 hour work week

• Ability to read, write, and communicate with employees and customers

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication)

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment



Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in a retail/store setting.


• This employee has direct and frequent contact with customers.

• Tasks are performed in all areas inside and outside of the store and can include exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), vapors, fumes, high humidity, and household and commercial chemicals short periods routinely, with the possibility for longer periods.

• The noise level is generally moderate.

• Work can include long hours on all shifts, weekends and holidays, on-call availability.

• Occasional in kitchen work.



Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:


• Stand for an entire shift/extended period of time.

• Walking for long distances.

• Use hands and fingers to handle and feel.

• Ability to reach with hands and arms.

• Occasionally required to sit.

• Bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Must regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Must be able to occasionally climb and descend ladders.
