Zooba is hiring a FOH Service Manager to lead dine-in operations as we introduce an expanded menu of the tastes of Egypt to Manhattan with full dine-in service.
The Job Summary
The Manager is responsible for ensuring that all guests who dine with us have a memorable experience and enjoy exceptional service. The Manager reports to the Zooba Nolita General Manager and acts as a leader on the floor supervising a team of service staff. Experience serving Egyptian, Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine in a restaurant setting is a plus.
The Job Details
- Demonstrate mastery of all Zooba food and beverage menu items, fluency of all ingredients and preparations, and the ability to respond to guest preferences and needs.
- Demonstrate a curiosity and love for Zooba’s unique take on Egyptian cuisine and an eagerness to continue to learn and grow.
- Consistently follow and lead the team on Zooba’s steps of service with efficiency and a positive attitude, while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout service.
- Ensure the dining room is ready for service including table settings, prepping stations, beverage station, and bussing areas during the hours of operation.
- Supervise reservations, wait lists, and guest service for take-away orders; assist with planning and executing special events.
- Provide table service and jump in where needed on the floor to always ensure exceptional service.
- Take care of guest needs, ensuring constant communication with the service team, managers, and the kitchen during service; handle any guest complaints or concerns.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant both before, during and after service.
- Always adhere to Zooba’s safety policies, alcoholic beverage service rules, and Department of Health guidelines.
- Assist with scheduling and employee communications for the service team.
- Orient, train, and coach employees; clarify job expectations, roles and responsibilities as needed; assist with hiring; identify talent for future promotions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in a service role in a fast-paced casual dining restaurant environment
- 2+ years dine-in service supervisory experience
- Experience with Rezy or similar online reservation App
- Knowledge of service standards and steps of service
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and Toast POS system a plus
- Able to supervise, lead and direct a service team
- Ability to lead a team under pressure
- Curiosity to learn about the Egyptian food and culture
- Experience serving Egyptian, Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food a plus
- English fluency with strong communication skills
- Ability to balance & carry multiple plates, glass racks and/or glasses, and lift objects up to 50 Ibs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for eight consecutive hours
- Flexible work schedule required (morning, evening, and weekend shifts)
- Food protection certificate from NYC DOH a plus
