Join Our Team as Barback – Keep the Bar Running Smoothly and Efficiently
About the Position
Barbacks are responsible for ensuring bartenders have everything they need to operate efficiently during service. This includes restocking inventory, preparing service areas, maintaining cleanliness, and being a critical support throughout the shift. Barbacks at Horsefeather work closely with bartenders and the bar manager and play a key role in the overall flow and success of the beverage program.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock spirits, beer, wine, mixers, ice, and glassware throughout service.
- Ensure all bar stations are prepped and fully stocked before the start of shift.
- Clear dirty glassware from the bar and replace with clean items quickly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas, including speed wells, sinks, and underbar storage.
- Change kegs and CO2 tanks as needed during service.
- Remove trash and recycling regularly and ensure waste areas are clean and organized.
- Monitor ice levels and refill bar wells and bins as needed.
- Assist with bar opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down stations.
- Respond quickly to requests from bartenders and managers during service.
- Support bar team during high-volume periods by anticipating needs and moving proactively.

Minimum Requirements
- You must be 18 or older to apply
- Prior experience as a barback in a high-volume restaurant or bar preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly in a crowded space.
- Excellent communication skills and a sense of urgency.
- Comfort working in loud, fast-paced environments.
- California Food Handler’s Card and RBS certification required.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
