Senior Estimator
ProSource Industries is a leading contract manufacturer specializing in the manufacturing of precision components for Wire Harnesses, Cable Assemblies and Electrical Control Panels for OEM'S. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the sales and engineering teams in developing competitive proposals. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers to ensure profitable and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze customer RFQs, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to validate cost assumptions and manufacturing feasibility.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative materials or processes to enhance competitiveness.
- Prepare and present pricing proposals, ensuring alignment with company pricing strategies and profit objectives.
- Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and supplier pricing information.
- Assess risks associated with each estimate and develop contingency plans as needed.
- Work closely with sales and business development teams to support negotiations and customer inquiries.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, market conditions, and new manufacturing technologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in estimating within a contract manufacturing, precision machining, metal fabrication, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or assembly operations.
- Proficiency in estimating software, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with cost modeling and value engineering principles.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Previous experience working in ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified environments.
