Our mentors, caregivers and CNA's enjoy a range of opportunities to assist adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities we serve, including (but not limited to) community activities and outings, support with basic living and social skills, assistance with progress toward individuals’ personal goals, accomplishing errands and tasks, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of these individuals.
Our clients can present some very challenging behaviors so we are looking for individuals who are:
- able to stay calm and avoid power struggles
- willing and physically able to assist clients use the restroom and stay safe
- show empathy when a client is overwhelmed
- cheer them on as they take steps forward!
- be thick skinned
- and above all have fun and be active in the community
We will provide you with training in working with individuals with disabilities, including how to redirect, de-escalate situations and handle problem behaviors.
Requirements
If you:
- have a desire to help individuals with disabilities
- are able to keep up with energetic individuals and engage in fun activities
- have a car and are willing to use it
- can pass a background check
- are available for Swing (2pm-10pm) and Grave (10pm-6am) shifts and all shifts on weekends. Weekends are mandatory.
- must be prompt, reliable, and committed to helping others
- must be willing to work at multiple locations.
