Rhubarb is a chef-driven, farm-to-table restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville serving modern Appalachian cuisine with genuine hospitality. What does that mean? We are hiring a FOH / Dining Room Manager, but the person will always come before the role.


The Person

As a Dining Room Manager at Rhubarb, you believe that great service starts with a genuine personality. You believe that the whole process is important when it comes to dining: from sourcing our produce and spirits locally and sustainability, to finding ways to say 'yes' to guests, to working as a team to execute a consistent experience for our guests and employees alike. You have both a strong background in food and beverage with a genuine passion for hospitality: you lead by example, treats guests and staff with respect, maybe you're a wine geek, and you're definitely a 'foodie' looking for a great opportunity!


The Role

  • Support service through mastery of FOH roles and understanding of the Rhubarb brand
  • Supervision of FOH team of servers, bartenders, support, and hosts; comfortable with giving both praise and discipline as needed
  • Serve as a guest liaison on the floor: respond to guest feedback, touch tables, and provide recovery where necessary
  • Assist with menu edits, POS accuracy, and website updates
  • Take pride in the physical environment of the restaurant: keep high standards for cleanliness and order, maintain food safety practices according to health code, insure tools and equipment are in good working order
  • Assist with managing revenue through labor cost maintenance, maximization of reservations/guest count, beverage cost control, sound business decision-making
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: helping execute wine dinners and other special events, utilizing technology (POS system, reservation application), inventory and ordering for FOH dry goods

The Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of previous people management experience, any industry
  • 4+ years of hospitality industry experience
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Lift up to 50lbs
