POSITION SUMMARY
A Level 1 Low Voltage Technician runs and installs cabling: cat6, 16/2 & 16/4 speaker wire and coax. They will also be expected to install equipment: TV’s, TV mounts, in wall speakers, ceiling speakers, surface speakers, cameras, security devices, key card access system devices, AV receivers, turn tables, PA equipment and networking equipment. A Level 1 Technician be responsible for terminating wire ends and connecting them to the installed equipment. They will have to follow blueprint plans and precisely execute wire and equipment locations. A Level 1 Technician will need to respond to dispatched service calls and provide the necessary service that is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
⦁ No requirement but would prefer an associate degree or 2 years of college coursework.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
⦁ Valid driver’s license required.
⦁ PLT License.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
⦁ Proven experience as a Low Voltage Installer or similar role, with a track record of successful installations.
⦁ Solid understanding of low voltage systems, including security, access control, surveillance, and audio-visual technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
⦁ Ability to use basic electrical tools: drills, saws, tape measure, electrical tester/meter, level, etc.
⦁ Able to maintain an accurate inventory of all in-use equipment, maintain service records, upgrades, change orders, and warranty information.
⦁ Knowledge of technology, wiring, building materials, tools.
⦁ Technical and computer skills.
⦁ Effective communication skills (written/oral).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
⦁ Perform proper runs and installation of low voltage wiring.
⦁ Terminate wire ends (learn and memorize color code).
⦁ Install all equipment.
⦁ Track and account for equipment, supplies, and tool inventory.
⦁ Respond to dispatched service calls and resolve issues in a timely manner.
⦁ Log time and provide description of work in TSheets.
⦁ Maintain strong written and effective oral communication skills for both internal and external parties.
⦁ Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure wiring is up to code and equipment is installed correctly.
⦁ Must read, understand, and follow project blueprints that are provided.
⦁ Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
⦁ Required to learn from lead PLT when on the job- networking, programming, troubleshooting.
⦁ Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
