Position Summary
A Front of House Shift Leader at Chick-fil-A City Gate is responsible for leading the FOH team during their assigned shifts. This person ensures operational excellence, maintains high guest satisfaction, supports team members, enforces standards, and helps the shift run smoothly from start to finish. They act as the Operator’s representative during their shift and set the tone for service, cleanliness, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the FOH team during shifts (front counter, drive-thru, dining room), including opening, mid, and closing shifts.
- Provide warm, Chick-fil-A-style hospitality: greeting guests, resolving issues/discrepancies, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Train, mentor, and coach FOH Team Members (cashiers, hosts, drive-thru staff) in policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Manage shift operations: assign roles, manage breaks, handle staffing, ensure the team is rightly positioned based on forecasted demand for given shift.
- Ensure food presentation, order accuracy, speed of service, and guest care meet Chick-fil-A standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of FOH areas including dining room, restrooms, front counter, and drive-thru staging.
- Carry out opening and closing procedures as needed, act as a key holder.
- Cash handling: count drawers/registers, reconcile transactions at shift end, ensure accountability.
- Communicate with leadership: report issues, give feedback, escalate guest concerns when needed.
- Support and model safety, sanitation, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Lead by example, demonstrating positivity, teamwork, professionalism, and a servant’s heart.
- Candidate must also demonstrate a team-first mindset by willingly supporting additional responsibilities as needed to ensure an exceptional guest and team member experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service or food service; leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule (including mornings, evenings, weekends).
- Comfortable handling cash and managing financial reconciliation.
- Good organizational skills and ability to delegate and follow through.
- Strong alignment with Chick-fil-A’s values: hospitality, care, integrity, excellence.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with Chick-fil-A operations is a plus.
- Prior experience leading FOH shifts or as a Team Leader / Shift Leader.
- Someone with a servant leadership mindset: someone who supports and elevates others.
- Ability to identify and coach for improvement opportunities in real time.
