Assistant General Manager Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven AGM o support the daily operations of Interlude Kitchen & Bar. This role partners closely with the General Manager to uphold our service standards, develop our FOH team, drive revenue, and ensure consistent operational excellence.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience in upscale or fine dining, a genuine passion for hospitality, and the ability to manage both people and processes with professionalism and confidence. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role—perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, high-touch environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Service Leadership
- Circulate through the dining room to anticipate and resolve guest needs or concerns
- Maintain service, steps of service, and table touch standards
- Handle guest recovery with tact, empathy, and decisive action
Team Leadership & Training
• Lead pre-shift meetings: communicate daily priorities, menu updates, and service standards
• Partner with the GM on hiring, training, onboarding
• Coach servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff
• Support performance reviews and progressive discipline when needed
• Model Interlude’s values: professionalism, teamwork, communication, and guest-first hospitality
Administrative, Reporting & Compliance
• Assist with weekly labor management, scheduling input, and forecasting
• Support daily cash handling, deposits, and end-of-night reporting
• Uphold all health, safety, sanitation, and ABC regulations
• Maintain Toast POS accuracy, comp/void standards, and overall FOH systems integrity
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty in the GM’s absence, ensuring leadership continuity
Operational Oversight
- Manage the flow of service, pacing, reservations, floor plan adjustments, staffing
- Monitor cleanliness, ambiance, and overall dining room readiness
- Ensure proper opening, running, and closing checklists are completed
- Collaborate with the kitchen and bar to maintain smooth communication and ticket timing
- Administrative & Compliance
- Assist with daily cash handling and end-of-night reporting
- Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Uphold FOH service standards
- Assist General Manager as needed
Assistant General Manager Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in FOH leadership in upscale/fine dining
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching abilities
- Ability to stay calm, professional, and solutions-oriented under pressure
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage service flow
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
