About the Role
Shift Leaders play a critical role at Tropical Smoothie Café. You set the tone for the shift, coach crew members, keep the café running smoothly, and ensure every guest receives “Unparalleled Hospitality.” You are the bridge between team members and management and help maintain high standards of speed, cleanliness, and food quality.

What You’ll Do
Shift Execution
- Run fast-paced shifts with confidence and professionalism
- Assign positions, manage break schedules, and keep the team organized
- Ensure all stations meet brand standards for prep, portioning, and cleanliness
- Support opening and closing duties with accuracy and accountability
- Uphold and model “Tropitude” – positive energy and hospitality
Team Leadership & Training
- Train, coach, and support crew members during shifts
- Encourage teamwork and redirect performance issues respectfully
- Maintain a positive, productive environment even during rushes
- Ensure crew members follow safety, sanitation, and operational procedures
Guest Experience
- Deliver friendly, accurate, and fast customer service
- Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues quickly
- Maintain consistent ticket times and drive service speed
Operational Responsibilities
- Perform accurate drawer counts and follow cash-handling procedures
- Monitor labor and make shift-level decisions to stay within targets
- Support inventory control by minimizing waste and following prep guides
- Keep the café clean and organized throughout the shift
What We’re Looking For
- Prior Tropical Smoothie Café experience or leadership experience in food service/retail
- Strong communication and people skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, honest, and committed to leading by example
- Someone who thrives under pressure and brings calm energy during rushes
- Must be legally eligible to work within state and federal guidelines
Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk for 6–8 hours
- Lift/carry up to 25 lbs (ice, trash, stocking items)
- Work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
- Stay positive and efficient in stressful situations
Working Conditions
- Flexible shifts with early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Additional responsibilities related to opening/closing
- Fun, fast-paced environment with no fryers
