Title: Busser

Overview:

At Ottava Via, a vibrant Italian restaurant, the Busser plays a crucial role in enhancing our guests' dining experience by ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. You will support our front-of-house team by efficiently managing table turnover, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with various tasks to ensure smooth and attentive service.

Responsibilities:

  1. Table Management:
  • Clear tables promptly after guests depart, removing all used dishes, glassware, and utensils.
  • Reset tables quickly and efficiently with fresh linens, utensils, and glassware, adhering to Ottava Via’s standards of presentation.
  • Ensure tables are set for new guests in a timely manner, maintaining an inviting atmosphere.
  1. Guest Assistance:
  • Support servers by delivering food and beverages to tables as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist guests with any immediate requests or needs, providing excellent customer service and creating a positive dining experience.
  1. Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dining area, including regular sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces.
  • Ensure restrooms and other common areas are clean, stocked, and well-maintained throughout your shift.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables properly, following Ottava Via’s waste management protocols.
  1. Stocking and Supply Management:
  • Refill condiments, napkins, and other service items at tables and throughout the service stations.
  • Assist with organizing and restocking supplies in the kitchen and service areas as needed.
  1. Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with servers and kitchen staff to coordinate service and ensure a smooth operation.
  • Assist in other tasks as directed by the management, including helping with special events or busy service periods.
  1. Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation practices and food handling.
  • Follow Ottava Via’s policies and procedures to ensure a safe and clean working environment.

Work Experience:

  • Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a food service or hospitality role is beneficial but not mandatory. Experience in a high-volume restaurant setting is a plus.
  • On-the-Job Training: Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure familiarity with Ottava Via’s specific procedures, standards, and expectations.

Education:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Relevant Training: Any training related to food safety, customer service, or hospitality is advantageous.

Skills:

  1. Communication:
  • Effective verbal communication skills to interact with guests, waitstaff, and kitchen staff.
  • Ability to listen attentively and respond to guest needs and requests.
  1. Customer Service:
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on providing a warm and welcoming dining experience.
  • Ability to handle guest inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
  1. Organizational Skills:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, such as clearing and resetting tables while assisting with other duties.
  • Attention to detail to ensure tables are set correctly and the dining area is maintained.
  1. Physical Stamina:
  • Capability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and perform physical tasks efficiently.
  1. Teamwork:
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude, willing to assist colleagues and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  1. Time Management:
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely service and a clean environment.
