Farther Farms is a food technology company working to improve the way food is made. We develop revolutionary food processing techniques that transform typically frozen and refrigerated foods into shelf-stable options to improve global accessibility and supply chain sustainability. Our team of food scientists, engineers, and microbiologists is focused on scaling our underlying technology platform and commercializing the first shelf-stable French fry.


JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing and Process Engineer will lead and assist with the successful design, scale-up, build-out and operation of novel food processing technologies. The individual will support the Pilot system and is responsible for leading projects and initiatives as part of the overall research and manufacturing processes. The position serves a critical need working closely with engineering, Product Development, Quality Assurance & Control, Operations Team, external engineering firms, equipment vendors, and company leadership.


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • You support the installation and startup of the pilot system;
  • The Pilot systems function efficiently, effectively and is well maintained. All documentation is accurate, and organized;
  • You manage projects, schedule and budgets;
  • You provide cost estimates, identify equipment, instruments and components;
  • You interface with external contractors and engineering firms;
  • You influence and support the design of commercial systems;
  • You flow seamlessly between the research lab, operations facility, and engineering team, collaborating effectively with a holistic understanding of commercialization from bench-top to manufacturing production; 
  • You have a high level of Initiative with the ability to drive results

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Familiarity with food production and HACCP is required;
  • Experience with project preparation and execution is required;
  • Bachelors in Engineering or related hard science is required;
  • Strong aptitude for real-world mechanical and thermal operations is preferred;
  • Plant engineering experience in a CPG manufacturing environment is preferred;
  • Familiarity with electronics and controls systems is preferred;

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with Pilot Plant operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement;
  • Assist with equipment design and development of food processing systems from pilot-scale to commercial implementation;
  • Actively participate in and lead equipment design projects, experiments, and analyses; 
  • Actively participate in the design and layout of the company’s commercial facilities across equipment, processes, and procedures; 
  • Lead the development of project plans inclusive of milestones, timelines, and budgets;
