The QSE Specialist plays a key role in safeguarding the quality, safety, and integrity of our handcrafted cheese products. Working closely with production teams, this position ensures compliance with food safety regulations, maintains quality systems, supports environmental stewardship efforts, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement to help deliver exceptional products to our customers.

 

Certification requirements: NA-HACCP and PCQI preferred.

 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

·Support product quality systems to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

·Perform routine product evaluations, tastings, and sensory assessments.

·Manage shelf-life studies, retention sample programs, and quality trend analysis.

·Review incoming Certificates of Analysis (COAs).

·Conduct daily Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) inspections and follow up on corrective actions.

·Assist with environmental monitoring program and sampling program in accordance with food safety requirements.

·Maintain and verify calibration of thermometers, pH meters, scales, ATP readers, and other testing equipment.

·Download, review, and maintain monitoring data from temperature monitoring system & STP readers.

·Monitor and trend temperature and humidity data to ensure compliance with product and facility requirements.

·Support organic certification programs and maintain associated documentation.

·Assist with SQF program management and document control activities.

·Participate in internal audits and support third-party, customer, and regulatory inspections.

·Assist with corrective and preventative action (CAPA) activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

·Promote a culture of quality, food safety, employee safety, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.

·Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready records.

·Communicate quality, food safety, and compliance concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

·Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: This position works in both typical office settings and in a production environment which can at times be wet, steamy, hot or cold.

 

Physical Demands:

The demands described here are representative of those typically encountered in this role.

●       Remain stationary for long periods of time and move about on wet concrete floors.

●       Remain stationary for long periods of time at a workstation desk, operating a computer keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.

●       Perform sustained repetitive motions, using extreme manual force, and using body parts such as fingers, hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.

●       Position self to properly complete the task at hand. This may involve turning all or parts of the body, or bending downward in order to place or reach an object at

a lower level.

●       Ability to operate heavy equipment.

●       Extend above the shoulder in order to place or retrieve objects.

●       Ability to grasp, raise, lower and/or move objects of various sizes and weights:

o Individually regularly manipulate objects weighing up to 20lbs

o With assistance regularly manipulate objects weighing from 21lbs to 30lbs

o Occasionally with assistance manipulate objects weighing from 31lbs to 50lbs.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

· AA Degree in Food or Dairy Science or 1-2 years of experience in a related field preferred.

· Proficient with Microsoft 365 tools, especially Excel.

· Understands and can articulate company policies.

· Understands and articulates safety policies, procedures and requirements for equipment operation.

· Communicates effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing.

· Performs simple mathematical calculations and basic dada analysis.

· Must be comfortable working in a multi-task and deadline driven environment.
