Do you enjoy working with fresh food, helping customers, and staying busy? We're looking for a dependable Deli Department Specialist to help keep our deli stocked, clean, and full of fresh, quality products. In this role, you'll prepare deli items, assist customers, fill special orders, stock and rotate products, and help maintain a clean and food-safe department. What You'll Do
Customer Service
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service.
• Assist customers with product selection, questions, and recommendations.
• Take and prepare special orders and party trays.
• Help create a positive shopping experience for every customer.
Deli & Food Preparation
• Prepare deli products according to company standards.
• Keep deli cases fresh, stocked, rotated, and appealing.
• Safely operate slicers, ovens, fryers, scales, cutting tools, and other deli equipment.
• Assist with bakery items, including finishing pastries, donuts, cupcakes, and cakes as needed.
• Assist with product sampling and promotions.
Department Operations
• Receive and inspect incoming products for quality, temperature, and accuracy.
• Stock and rotate products in deli cases, coolers, and freezers.
• Maintain accurate pricing and promotional signage.
• Keep back stock organized and record daily shrink.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and stocking products.
Food Safety & Cleanliness
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health requirements.
• Keep prep areas, equipment, coolers, and freezers clean and organized.
• Properly handle and store products to maintain freshness and quality.
• Clean and sanitize equipment according to company standards.
What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous grocery, deli, food service, or customer service experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food safety certification (ServSafe® or equivalent) preferred.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
Skills & Abilities
• Friendly, dependable, and customer-focused.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math, weights, and measurement skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and help wherever needed.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in coolers and freezers.
• Ability to safely operate deli equipment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
