Summary:

The Pre-Owned Specialist is responsible for managing the efforts of the Pre-Owned Vehicle (POV) Sales Department and ensuring that the dealership actualizes its maximum profit potential on POV sales.


Essential Duties

Position is 100% on-site.


Minimum Hourly Pay Rate of $25.00, which can increase up to $90.00/hour based on productivity.

  • Lead the Pre-Owned Vehicle departments, including wholesale, retail, purchasing, and marketing.
  • Ensure effective inventory and pricing, in partnership with dealership and management team members.
  • Provide partnership and support to the Sales Managers.
  • Purchase vehicles for the inventory from auction and off-lease returns, trade appraisals, etc.
  • Perform work in consideration of the budgets for volume and control expenses.
  • Partner with service department to manage reconditioning of used car vehicles.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, desired.
  • A minimum of (5) years’ experience of Pre-Owned Automotive Sales or similar positions in the Automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts (such as adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and percentages); equity values and depreciation; and laws that govern retain automotive sales.
  • Ability to learn and understand the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail auto sales.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to follow direction and able to work independently or as a team.
  • Ability to multi-task projects, establish priorities, work independently, and organize effectively.
  • Must be detail orientated and be able to work under pressure.
  • Must have a valid sales driver’s license and maintain an acceptable and safe driving record.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual will be required to:


  • Able to withstand outdoor weather.
  • Frequently required to sit and stand for a long period of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
