The Assistant Service Manager is a front-line associate who is a liaison between the customer and the technician. They assist the customer with taking care of their vehicle, writing the repair order, facilitating the servicing and walking the customer's vehicle through the entire service process.
Schedule
Our Service Department has implemented an Alternative Workweek Schedule for this position. Here’s how it works:
- You will have a 4-week rotating schedule.
- For three weeks, you will work 4 days each week for 10 hours each day.
- For one week, you will work 3 days for 10 hours each day, and one day for 9 hours.
- This schedule repeats every 4 weeks.

Position is 100% on-site.
Essential Duties include the following; however, other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Spends a minimum of 60% of daily work activities communicating information to guests on maintenance and repair needs that are identified and writing repair orders for services.
- Promotes service sales through communication of information to guests on maintenance and repair needs that are identified during the service appointment process.
- Carefully inspect every finished repair order for proper completion, pricing accuracy, and legibility.
- Collects the total retail charges from guests in cash, check, or authorized charge account; to include making change and issue receipts to guest.
- Close and finalize all repair orders for which funds have been received in computer system, and reconciles cash drawer daily.
- Remain continuously posted on the shop’s workload to determine the kind of work the shop can quickly accommodate.
- Keep abreast of new products, features, etc., and their benefits to guests.
Base Hourly Rate of $16.50 plus commission which can range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) with no upper limit.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:
- High School diploma or equivalent desired.
- Must have at least 3-5 years of automotive industry experience and expertise (auto repair, customer service and sales).
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Able to problem solve and handle a variety of issues.
- Must be self-motivated and able to follow direction and able to work independently or as a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task projects, establish priorities, work independently and organize effectively.
- Must be detail orientated and be able to work under pressure.
