Back of House Shift Leader (Mid-Level Leadership Role)

Role Overview
The Back of House Shift Leader is a mid-level leadership role responsible for leading kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and safety, and developing team members during assigned shifts. This leader drives execution, consistency, and speed while partnering with Front of House and senior leaders to deliver an excellent overall guest experience.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in operations, leads calmly under pressure, and enjoys developing others while maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Back of House operations during assigned shifts
- Ensure food quality, accuracy, speed, and presentation meet Chick-fil-A standards
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation procedures
- Coach, train, and develop kitchen team members in real time
- Manage shift execution including station placement, breaks, and production flow
- Monitor product levels and communicate needs proactively
- Partner closely with Front of House leaders to ensure smooth handoff and service flow
- Troubleshoot operational challenges quickly and effectively
- Uphold Chick-fil-A values and culture on every shift
Leadership Expectations
- Lead by example in work ethic, urgency, and attention to detail
- Provide clear direction, encouragement, and accountability to team members
- Support onboarding and training of new kitchen team members
- Make sound operational decisions when senior leaders are not present
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, speed, and team performance
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety and operational procedures
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Clear communicator with a team-first mindset
- Dependable, coachable, and solution-oriented
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Availability to work a mix of mornings, evenings, and weekends
