The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing restaurant operations during assigned shifts to ensure exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and a positive team environment. This role provides direct supervision to team members, ensures food safety and quality standards are upheld, and supports daily financial and operational procedures. Shift Leaders serve as on-shift decision makers, leading by example while maintaining speed of service, food safety compliance, and hospitality standards consistent with Chick-fil-A’s values.
Key Responsibilities - Operational Leadership
Supervise and coordinate team members during assigned shifts.
Maintain speed of service and operational efficiency.
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with supply ordering.
Operate, set up, break down, and troubleshoot store equipment.
Communicate effectively with the Operator, General Manager, Help Desk, and
maintenance teams when needed.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to food safety, cleanliness, and quality standards.
Review performance ratings, smart shop reports, food safety findings, and eRQA results.
Accompany Health Inspectors or Steritech Inspectors during visits.
Uphold company policies, handbook standards, and corrective action procedures.
Team Leadership & Development
Train, coach, and support team members to achieve performance goals.
Conduct shift observations to recognize strengths and identify areas of opportunity.
Support mastery of all positions, including Pathway training completion and continued
development.
Foster a positive, productive, and professional work environment.
Provide support to all areas of the business as needed.
Guest Experience
Deliver outstanding customer service and effectively address guest concerns and
feedback.
Lead by example in hospitality and service excellence.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of one year of customer service experience; prior restaurant or retail
leadership experience preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Basic math, accounting, and computer/technology skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (45+ hours per week).
ServSafe and Food Handler Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within one year).
