Cook Description 

At Chick-fil-A® the responsibility of our kitchen staff is to produce the highest quality food with precision and accuracy, continually observing and implementing the proper quality assurance and food-safety procedures. The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking foods, and must be able to perform all station functions of Primary, Secondary, Fry, Breading and Machines; communicating ticket times and potential problems to the shift lead on duty and managers as necessary; providing the highest quality of service to customers and associates at all times; performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management. 

 

Duties Include:  

  • Is someone who values the power of teamwork 
  • Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic 
  • Follows recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting and serving food items 
  • Tastes products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment as needed  
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment 
  • Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices 
  • Operates a variety of kitchen equipment  
  • Stocks, dates, rotates, and checks temperature of product 
  • Active food handler card 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Emerging policies and product, service, quality, equipment and operations standards 

 

 Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Requires food preparation skills  
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year of closely related cooking experience, work experience in high volume and quick-service restaurant environment preferred  
  • Must have Food Handler’s card 
  • Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates  
  • Frequently working in a hot environment 
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents as well as converse comfortably with individuals  

 

Physical Requirements: 

The following are physical actions that are commonly required during the performance of the daily job routine.  They include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Walk continuously throughout the shift 
  • Frequently working in a hot environment 
  • Ability to bend, twist and stand for extended periods of time to perform normal job functions 
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to a minimum of 30 pounds  
  • Use protective equipment such as gloves, eye protection and/or other protective equipment deemed appropriate as needed. 
  • Any and all other physical movements necessary to complete assigned tasks.
