Server Assistant

Rate of pay$7.25 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Server Assistant to join our team at a prestigious fine dining French restaurant. The Server Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the front-of-house team by assisting with table setup, food running, drink refills, and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist servers in setting up dining areas before service, including arranging tables, chairs, tableware, and linens to meet presentation standards.
  • Welcome guests and guide them to their tables, providing assistance with seating arrangements and coat check if applicable.
  • Refill water glasses, breadbaskets, and condiments promptly throughout the meal, ensuring guests' needs are anticipated and met.
  • Assist servers in delivering food orders from the kitchen to the appropriate tables, following service protocols and timing guidelines.
  • Clear and reset tables efficiently after guests depart, removing used dishes, glassware, and utensils while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely delivery of food and beverages, communicating any special requests or guest preferences.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the dining room, including sweeping, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, and ensuring restrooms are well-maintained.
  • Assist in stocking and replenishing supplies such as napkins, utensils, condiments, and cleaning materials as needed.
  • Support servers and bartenders during peak service periods, handling tasks to facilitate smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times, following proper procedures for handling and disposing of food and waste.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a server assistant, busser, or similar role in a restaurant environment, preferably in fine dining or upscale establishments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, taking direction from servers and management while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor towards guests and colleagues.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and carry trays, move furniture, and perform cleaning tasks as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on restaurant operations.
  • Knowledge of basic food and beverage service principles is a plus but can be learned on the job with training.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and guest satisfaction in the dining environment.
