Back of House (BOH) Training Senior Manager
Are you an elite operational leader who knows how to build people and protect standards? Chick-fil-A Oshkosh is seeking a BOH Training Senior Manager to lead our kitchen operations and pioneer our team development strategy.
Let’s be completely clear about the design of this role: this is a senior operational leadership role, not an administrative or desk job. You will own the training strategy and its execution while actively leading on the floor in live operations. You are the heartbeat of the kitchen, the protector of our culture, and the architect of our future leadership pipeline.
The Role Mission
Your mission is to build a high-performing kitchen team that deeply knows our standards, consistently executes them under pressure, and increasingly takes ownership of leading those standards in others. You will bridge the gap between corporate excellence and daily execution, helping Chick-fil-A Oshkosh deliver its ultimate purpose.
Training Clarity: The Big Three
Your performance and strategy will be driven by a clear framework designed to shift our culture from tracking tasks to mastering skills:
- TEACH: So they KNOW the standard.
- Create clarity around the what, how, and why. You will equip Team Members with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on practice needed to succeed.
- VERIFY: So they DO the standard.
- Observe performance in live operations. You will actively confirm true operational competency on the line rather than assuming that a finished shift or checklist equals true capability.
- DEVELOP: So they LEAD the standard.
- Coach gaps and strengthen our trainer pipeline. You will intentionally identify leadership potential and prepare people to confidently help others uphold our standards.
Our Primary Guardrail: Training is measured by COMPETENCY, not COMPLETION. A completed checklist, a finished Pathway assignment, or a set number of training shifts is never the finish line. Your success is explicitly visible in how confidently and consistently our Team Members execute their roles on the line during peak rushes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence & Floor Leadership
- Lead from the front by actively running shifts, managing labor, and ensuring food safety and speed-of-service metrics are met during high-volume rushes.
- Maintain an uncompromising standard for cleanliness, food quality, and organizational discipline in the kitchen.
2. Training Strategy & Quality Control
- Own the execution of the entire BOH training ecosystem, ensuring new hires are seamlessly integrated and existing team members are cross-trained.
- Audit and verify execution on the floor, stepping in to deliver real-time feedback and corrective coaching when standards slip.
3. Leadership & Trainer Development
- Directly lead, mentor, and grow our team of BOH Certified Trainers, elevating their coaching capabilities.
- Identify high-potential team members and intentionally build a bench of future kitchen leaders.
4. Culture & Purpose Preservation
- Actively protect a positive, high-accountability kitchen culture where feedback is welcomed and team members feel valued.
- Align daily kitchen behaviors with the broader purpose and vision of the Chick-fil-A Oshkosh franchise.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Leadership Grit: Extensive experience managing high-volume kitchen operations or leading structured training programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Operational Command: You thrive in the heat of a rush, communicate with absolute clarity, and make sharp decisions under pressure.
- People-First Developer: A passion for coaching, teaching, and watching others succeed. You care more about growing a person's capability than just checking a box.
- Uncompromising Standards: An eye for detail. You notice the small things—from hold times to proper cleaning procedures—and you refuse to let them slide.
