Job Overview

As a Server at Cherokee Country Club, you will be responsible for providing food, beverage, and hospitality to our members in our various dining outlets. Your main goal will be to anticipate and exceed the needs of our members while delivering exceptional service. You will work closely with the dining team, utilizing our POS system, Foodrunners (Expo), Server Assistants, and Bartenders to ensure a seamless dining experience. Proficiency in our operations, menus, and operating systems is crucial for success in this role. Effective communication and teamwork are key elements of this position.

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Perform sidework and duties related to opening and closing the operation
  • Keep silverware, glassware, and service materials clean and polished at all times
  • Provide menus and answer all questions, seeking answers if necessary
  • Keep water and beverage glasses full, offering refills when needed
  • Learn specials and make recommendations on pairings and favorite menu items
  • Ensure accurate account numbers and names for billing
  • Carry food to the table on trays, dropping dishes to the correct seat numbers or delegating to others
  • Note any allergies and communicate them to management and the culinary team
  • Take the lead in directing the service team to serve and clear in a rhythm appropriate for the dining outlet and member expectations
  • Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating
  • Take beverage orders and serve food in specified station
  • Pour and refill wine, coffee, water, and other beverages served with and after the meal
  • Clear soiled dishes as needed
  • Clean all assigned work areas in the kitchen and service areas
  • Advise supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur
  • Assist in closing functions, such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and resetting the room for the next shift
  • Attend staff meetings, including pre-service (line-up) sessions
  • Consistently follow all food safety-related requirements
  • Develop proficiency in Club policies and standards
  • Assist with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed
  • Suggest when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed
  • Coordinate any special requests, including dietary needs and allergens, with the culinary team
  • Take responsibility for mistakes and address them in an open and honest fashion
  • Display a passion for service and enthusiasm for excellence among the team
  • Complete other appropriate assignments made by Club leadership
  • Move between operations as needed, including the Overlook Bar & Grill during pool season


Education/Experience

  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • High school education or equivalent required


Compensation

$5 per hour, plus tips. Full-time employees are eligible for the Club's excellent benefit package, which includes health, medical, and dental insurance, 401K, paid vacation, PTO, employee meals, and employee golf.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and perform various physical tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
