Job Overview
The Bartender is responsible for the preparation and production of beverages for multiple dining outlets throughout the a la carte operations at Cherokee. The main bar will service the family Dogwood Room, casual Pub operation, and upscale Magnolia Room concepts. Bartenders need to be experienced in a variety of service styles and have in-depth knowledge of wine, beer, bourbons, and other spirits. Knowledge of craft cocktail service and producing in-house juices will be important. This position will need to produce drinks for the service staff and the bar seats, which will require formal serving experience as well.
Education/Experience:
- High School education or equivalent, college preferred
- Previous serving experience required, preferably in an upscale environment
- Previous bartending experience required, preferably in an upscale environment

Job Tasks/Duties
- Greets members and guests in an upbeat and professional manner.
- Bartends and can serve tables in an exemplary manner.
- Develop proficiency in Club policies and standards, training new service staff to expectations.
- Suggests and describes food and alcoholic beverages to members and guests.
- Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
- Inspects bar coolers and back stock for freshness, par levels, and cleanliness.
- Resolves member and guest complaints, documenting both positive and negative feedback.
- Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies/procedures are consistently followed.
- Prepares garnishes, fruit mixes and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening bar, ensuring product freshness.
- Assures that pre-opening and closing cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.
- Assists with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
- Cross-trains in other departments to develop their skillset at the Club.
- Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
- Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
- Enforces established rules, regulations and policies.
- Assures that local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Ensures that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards from occurring, and takes precautions against possible spoilage.
- Coordinates any special requests including dietary needs and allergens with the culinary team.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by Club leadership.
- Be available nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the Club.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Food safety certification (ServSafe or other) is preferred.
- ABC Certification required, TIPS training preferred.
- Of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
