Spinato’s Pizzeria is a well-established and growing restaurant group with 6 locations across the Valley, a family kitchen that acts as a commissary to our locations, along with two major sports partnerships managing concession sales at two stadium venues. Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Comptroller (Controller) to lead all accounting and financial operations for the company. This role will oversee the accounting team, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide leadership with critical insights to drive profitability and growth.
The ideal candidate brings strong multi-unit experience, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and manage the accounting function across all restaurant, family kitchen, and concession operations
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Accounting Team
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial processes
Financial Reporting & Close
- Oversee monthly (period end), quarterly, and annual close processes
- Review and approve financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Present financial results and insights to ownership and leadership
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy
- Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
- Analyze financial performance by location, channel, and partnership
- Provide recommendations to improve profitability, reduce costs, and support growth initiatives
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
- Oversee banking relationships and cash management strategies
Operational & Cost Analysis
- Partner with operations leadership to monitor key metrics (food cost %, labor %, prime cost)
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement
Partnership & Concessions Oversight
- Oversee financial management of sports partnership agreements and concession operations
- Review revenue-sharing arrangements and settlement reporting
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements
Systems & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems, reporting tools, and workflows
- Drive automation and scalability as the company grows
Skills and Qualifications:
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
· 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
· Multi-unit, restaurant and hospitality experience highly preferred
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
· Experience managing high-volume transaction environments and POS systems
· Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
