Job Overview
Guernsey Holdings, a leading Zaxby’s franchisee, is seeking a TN Construction Manager to oversee the execution of restaurant construction projects across middle Tennessee. This role is focused entirely on project and construction management and serves as the company’s representative for new builds, remodels, and capital improvement projects.
The TN Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with brand standards, while working closely with Operations leadership to support operational readiness and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the company’s representative on multiple concurrent construction projects, including ground-up restaurant builds, remodels, and capital improvement projects
- Manage and oversee general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and installers to ensure high-quality execution
- Lead project planning activities including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, sequencing, and coordination of trades
- Coordinate and manage the construction permitting process, ensuring all required building, health, fire, and operational permits are obtained on schedule
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and address issues proactively
- Ensure all work meets brand standards, approved plans, building codes, safety requirements, and quality expectations
- Coordinate deliveries, installations, inspections, and key construction milestones
- Resolve construction issues, delays, or conflicts to minimize impact on cost and schedule
- Manage punch lists, inspections, certificates of occupancy, and final turnover to operations
- Oversee remodel and refresh projects while minimizing disruption to restaurant operations
- Manage capital improvement projects across existing restaurants
- Maintain regular communication with the VP of Operations and Director of Operations to ensure alignment
- Collaborate with the South Carolina Construction Manager for guidance, best practices, and cross-market coordination
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, budgets, documentation, and reports
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction or project management
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, including new builds and remodels
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, scheduling, and cost control
- Proven ability to manage general contractors and vendors
- Experience coordinating inspections and project closeout
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Restaurant construction experience is highly preferred
