Equine Apparel & Tack Inventory Purchasing & Development Agent

Key responsibilities - On-site position only

We are looking for a skilled and proactive purchaser who excels at demand forecasting, inventory replenishment, and reliable vendor management. This role is critical to maintaining consistent product availability, controlling costs, and preventing supply chain disruptions that impact the business.

Key Responsibilities (On-site position only):

  • Analyze sales data, historical trends, and seasonality patterns to create accurate demand forecasts and determine optimal reorder points and quantities
  • Manage replenishment purchasing for specific product lines — placing purchase orders, adjusting order timing and quantities to balance stock levels
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with vendors and freight forwarders; negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Proactively monitor inventory levels to prevent stock outs and minimize excess inventory; adjust orders dynamically based on changing demand signals
  • Track the full order lifecycle — from purchase order placement through production, quality checks, shipment, logistics, and receipt — ensuring on-time delivery
  • Identify and resolve supply risks early; address late deliveries, quality issues, or other vendor-related problems quickly
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, cost competitiveness) and recommend improvements or alternative sources when needed
  • Reconcile invoices with purchase orders, track shipments, and maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records
  • Generate clear reports on inventory turns, purchase variances, supplier metrics, and forecast accuracy
  • Provide data-driven insights and vendor information to support internal teams when requested

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in purchasing, inventory replenishment, and demand forecasting (manufacturing, wholesale, or distribution environment preferred)
  • Strong track record managing international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokerage, and import logistics
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build long-term, reliable vendor relationships
  • Analytical mindset — comfortable working with sales data, el, and inventory management systems to make data-driven decisions
  • Proficiency with inventory / ERP software and strong skills in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, forecasting functions)
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple orders, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and calm under pressure when handling supply disruptions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field preferred (not required with strong relevant experience)
  • Willingness for occasional domestic or international travel (minimal)

This role directly impacts business continuity, cost control, and customer satisfaction through consistent product availability at competitive prices.
