Store Manager – Ace Hardware

Position Summary

leadership and successful operation of the store. This includes driving sales

and profitability, ensuring operational excellence, and promoting a first-class

customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership, Team Development & Culture

·       Champion a positive, supportive, and

high-performance store culture by actively coaching, empowering, and motivating

team members.

·       Hire, train, and develop retail staff, focusing

on individual growth, leadership potential, and continuous improvement.

·       Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews,

and recognition initiatives to ensure all team members feel valued and

understand their contribution to the store's success.

·       Foster open communication and a collaborative

team environment through consistent use of store meetings, huddles, and

communication boards.

·       Lead by example—model professionalism, strong

work ethic, and the Ace Core Values in all interactions.

Sales, Operations & Process Adherence

·       Oversee all aspects of store operations

including staffing, scheduling, merchandising, visual standards, and inventory

management.

·       Ensure strict adherence to Ace Hardware

operational processes, procedures, and best practices to maintain consistency

and efficiency across all departments.

·       Oversee and promote store cleanliness to align

with Company standards.

·       Utilize reporting tools to monitor store

performance, make informed business decisions, and identify areas of

opportunity for improvement.

·       Partner with vendors and supervisors to optimize

product merchandising, promotions, and seasonal displays in alignment with

planograms and store strategy.

·       Monitor and manage store scheduling, including

appropriate staffing to remain within budgetary guidelines while meeting

customer demand.

Customer Service Excellence

·       Make customer service the top priority for the

store—coach and support the team to consistently "Amaze Every Customer

Every Time."

·       Proactively observe and provide coaching on

customer interactions to ensure friendly, solution-focused, and knowledgeable

service.

·       Take ownership of customer concerns and ensure

timely resolution to enhance loyalty and satisfaction.

·       Analyze customer feedback, surveys, and mystery

shop reports to continuously improve the customer experience.

Inventory Management

·       Maintain accurate on-hand inventory levels

through diligent oversight of receiving, transfers, cycle counts, and system

processes.

·       Leverage available inventory reports to minimize

shrink, maintain appropriate stock levels, and ensure merchandise flow aligns

with customer demand.

·       Communicate inventory updates and expectations

clearly with the team to ensure alignment and accountability.

Training and Compliance

·       Identify and oversee training and development

opportunities for team members, including new-hire orientation, vendor-led

sessions, and ongoing skill-building initiatives.

·       Ensure full compliance with company policies,

safety protocols, and store environment standards.

·       Conduct routine safety inspections and address

any concerns promptly to promote a secure and clean working and shopping

environment.

Position Requirements

·       High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s

degree preferred.

·       Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a

retail setting, preferably hardware or home improvement.

·       Valid in-state driver’s license with an

acceptable driving record.

Required Skills & Competencies

·       Strong leadership presence with the ability to

empower, motivate, and hold team members accountable.

·       Excellent communication, both verbal and written

·       Ability to lead through change, solve problems,

and make decisions independently.

·       Highly organized with strong time management,

planning, and project execution skills.

·       Proficient in basic retail computer systems and

software.

·       Professional demeanor with the ability to build

trust and credibility with customers, associates, and vendors.

Physical Requirements

·       Ability to stand, walk, reach, and bend for

extended periods.

·       Lift and handle merchandise up to 60 pounds and perform all essential store functions



Compensation: Negotiable upon review

Work schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
