Maintenance Champion

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Champion at Chick-fil-A is responsible for the upkeep, functionality, and safety of restaurant equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for both guests and team members. This role involves proactive inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of a variety of systems, including kitchen equipment, HVAC, fire extinguishers, drains, and more. The Maintenance Champion works closely with leadership to identify maintenance needs, arrange vendor services, and train team members on proper cleaning protocols. This position requires attention to detail, technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, HVAC systems, Ansul systems, and other safety equipment
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance of essential kitchen equipment (e.g., Ice Dream machine, Henny Pennies, shake machine) and coordinate with external vendors when necessary
  • Perform routine building inspections, including checks on the roof, drains, and handwashing sinks, to prevent issues and ensure optimal functionality
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in high-traffic areas, including the utility hallway, trash and recycling areas, and offsite storage.
  • Ensure kitchen and dining room equipment (e.g., refrigerators, food holding systems, soda fountains) is clean, at proper temperatures, and well-maintained
  • Assist leadership in training team members on equipment handling and daily maintenance tasks
  • Monitor and address maintenance needs in restrooms, parking lot, and exterior areas to ensure a welcoming environment
  • Support peak operational hours when needed and assist in maintaining the delivery vehicles and all tech devices in working order


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous maintenance or custodial experience in a restaurant or commercial setting is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems; ability to troubleshoot issues with restaurant equipment, including fryers, ice machines, and soda fountains.
  • Strong ability to identify maintenance needs, ensure equipment functionality, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards throughout the restaurant.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require kneeling, bending, or climbing.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to work collaboratively with team members, leadership, and external vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple maintenance responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a source of reliable transportation
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends, based on maintenance needs.
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing issues before they become larger problems, with the ability to think critically and implement effective solutions.
  • Works well with leadership to coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure team members are trained on equipment use and daily cleaning procedures.
  • Commitment to following Chick-fil-A’s safety protocols, including OSHA and health department regulations, to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required for maintaining delivery vehicles and occasional transport of equipment to/from offsite storage.
