We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and design-minded Gardener to bring high visual impact and meticulous care to our seasonal flower beds and green spaces. This part-time, contract role is ideal for a landscape professional who thrives by planning ahead, executing with precision, and maintaining impeccable standards year-round. The role offers a flexible part-time schedule with consistent seasonal work.
Position Description:
- Design seasonal planting layouts and potted arrangements that reflect our brand’s warmth and excellence.
- Source all plants, flowers, and materials ahead of the season through trusted wholesale partners (for at least 2 seasonal plantings per year).
- Select plant varieties based on aesthetics, seasonal performance, and native climate.
- Execute planting designs with structure, balance, and color in mind.
- Use professional standards for spacing, depth, and placement.
- Deadhead, prune, weed, water, and fertilize on a consistent weekly schedule.
- Keep all planting beds, topiaries, and potted plantings immaculately maintained and refreshed throughout each season.
- Amend and fertilize soil seasonally.
- Maintain proper grading and drainage in planting beds.
- Monitor for pests and diseases and recommend environmentally responsible treatments when needed.
- Ensure all areas remain free of debris, weeds, litter, and signs of neglect.
- Care for surrounding hardscape aesthetics (edges of sidewalks, mulch borders, etc.)
- Maintain regular communication with the Operations team to align with brand events, visitors, holidays, and community partnerships.
- Track and report seasonal planting budgets, needs, and timelines.
Position Requirements:
- 1-2 years of professional experience in landscape gardening (resort, hospitality, or high-end commercial preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Lowcountry flora, climate patterns, and planting cycles.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing wholesale nursery plants.
- Ability to design with color theory, plant texture, and seasonal interest in mind.
- Skilled in soil health, fertilization techniques, pruning, and pest management.
- Possesses great attention to detail with a proactive mindset. Takes initiative and doesn’t wait for decline before stepping in.
- Reliable transportation and ownership of professional tools.
- Able to work early mornings, late evenings, or on weekends to avoid disrupting guest traffic.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must have the ability to lift 25-50 pounds at a time.
