Technical Areas of Focus:
- Serve as a partner to the CFO in developing and following accounting processes and procedures
- Complete ownership of the month-end close cycle and preparation of the monthly financial statements
- Leadership of the accounting and support teams to meet the established reporting deadlines and requirements set forth by management
- Ability to consolidate and maintain a highly accurate trial balance and ledger using accrual-based accounting techniques and compliance with GAAP
- Responsible for the organization’s adherence to internal and external controls, including the evaluation and update of procedures where necessary to minimize risk
- Support budget targets by analyzing account variances to locate transactions requiring further entries/action
- Successfully deliver a clean external audit report annually, through coordination with Refuel’s audit and tax partners
- Assist in mentoring of staff and other team members, through teaching and collaboration
- Assist with cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Ad-hoc requests from management as needed

Core Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum 7 years in a corporate accounting position
- Corporate retail experience is required; convenience store, fuel/gasoline industry experience is preferred
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office with emphasis in Excel (including, but not limited to complex formulas and pivot tables)
- Position is in-office and based in North Charleston, SC; very occasional travel to store locations may be required as necessary
- Reports to CFO
Working environment and physical requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 10 pounds at times.
