Job Summary: The Director of Food Service is responsible for the full ownership and performance of Refuel’s foodservice business. This role is accountable for driving sales, profitability, product quality, and operational execution across all locations. The Director must bring strong, hands-on experience in food service operations, procurement, and financial management, with the ability to translate strategy into execution at the store level.
This is not a maintenance role. This position requires a self-starter who can operate with urgency in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, identify gaps quickly, and pivot strategies as needed to deliver results.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Execution
• Own end-to-end performance of the foodservice program, including in-store execution, product quality, speed of service, and customer experience.
• Lead the rollout, implementation, and ongoing optimization of foodservice programs across all stores.
• Partner directly with Operations to ensure standards are clearly defined, trained, and consistently executed.
• Conduct regular field visits to validate execution, identify gaps, and drive accountability.
• Support new store openings, remodels, and brand conversions from a food service standpoint.
Financial Ownership & Accountability
• Own and deliver against key financial metrics including sales, margin, food cost, labor impact, and overall profitability.
• Build, manage, and adjust pricing strategies to protect margin while remaining competitive.
• Analyze P&L performance, identify trends, and take corrective action quickly.
• Develop and execute cost control initiatives across sourcing, waste reduction, and operational efficiencies.
• Partner with Finance and Executive Leadership on forecasting, budgeting, and long-term growth planning.
Procurement & Vendor Management
• Lead all procurement strategies for food service, including sourcing, cost negotiations, and contract management.
• Own vendor relationships and hold partners accountable to service levels, quality, pricing, and supply continuity.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers as needed to support growth and margin improvement.
• Resolve supply chain disruptions quickly and effectively with minimal impact to stores.
Product Strategy & Innovation
• Drive menu development, product innovation, and category expansion based on customer demand and market trends.
• Use sales data, customer insights, and competitive analysis to refine offerings and improve performance.
• Ensure all products meet food safety, labeling, and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously evaluate product mix to maximize profitability and simplify operations.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Training to align on priorities and execution.
• Lead communication and rollout plans for new programs, ensuring clarity at all levels of the organization.
• Support training initiatives to ensure store teams are equipped to execute foodservice programs successfully.
Delivery & Off-Premise Growth
• Own and grow third-party delivery platforms and off-premise sales channels.
• Ensure menu optimization, pricing, and execution support profitability in delivery channels.
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, health standards, and company policies.
• Stay current on industry regulations and proactively implement necessary changes.

Education and Experience: An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in foodservice operations, including leadership responsibility.
• Experience in convenience retail or QSR environments.
• Background in multi-unit operations, category management, or foodservice leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading foodservice operations at scale (multi-unit, convenience retail, QSR, or similar environment).
• Strong background in procurement, vendor negotiations, and cost management.
• Demonstrated ownership of financial performance, including P&L management and margin improvement.
Working environment and physical requirements:
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times and work in both office and store environments.
Travel:
• Must be able to travel up to 50%.
