Job Summary: The Subway Shift Lead oversees day-to-day shift operations to ensure exceptional customer service, food safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently met. This role supports restaurant leadership by supervising team members, assisting with scheduling, training staff, and maintaining inventory control while leading by example on the front line.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise shift operations to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and Subway brand standards
- Perform all duties of a Sandwich Artist, including food preparation, guest service, and cash handling
- Train and coach new or less experienced Sandwich Artists on job duties and operational procedures
- Monitor and practice proper inventory control and food rotation standards
- Inspect equipment and storage areas during shifts to ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper working condition
- Assign and supervise staff during shifts to ensure efficient workflow and guest satisfaction
- Complete required paperwork and shift documentation as needed
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the restaurant
- Support a positive team environment and address guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Complete required University of Subway training and certifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:
- Strong understanding of food safety and store operations.
- Effective leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic cash handling and inventory tracking.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork mindset.
Education and Experience:
An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
- Previous retail, food service, or customer service experience.
- Must be able to do basic math at the eighth-grade level.
- On-the-job training is provided for all new team members.
Working environment and physical requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Maintains Food Handlers and Food
- Safety Certification as required by Refuel.
- Must be able to stand during the entire work shift.
- Must be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 35 degrees for up to 30 minutes.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to tolerate gas fumes and cleaning products.
- Must be able to climb a ladder to clean windows.
Travel: Must be able to travel up to 10%
