The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing facility maintenance and minor repair needs across both Soup ‘n Fresh restaurant locations. This hands-on role includes tasks related to basic plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, and general upkeep. The technician will help minimize service disruptions by performing timely, cost-effective repairs and ensuring a safe, functional facility. The ideal candidate is reliable, responsive, and well-versed in restaurant equipment and compliance standards.
If hired as a contractor, candidate is responsible for securing and maintaining all licenses, tools, certifications, and insurance required by law.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Replace and maintain light fixtures, bulbs, and covers
- Perform light plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks or unclogging drains
- Patch, paint, and touch up walls to keep spaces looking fresh
- Clean, replace, and maintain air vents and filters
- Carry out minor carpentry and general repair tasks as needed
- Assist with regular inspections and report maintenance issues to management
- Keep tools, equipment, and supplies organized and in good condition
Preventative Maintenance
- Maintain a routine schedule of equipment inspections (e.g., HVAC, fridge seals, burners, fans)
- Identify and fix issues proactively to prevent failures
- Document all repairs, parts used, and time required
Support & Reporting
- Coordinate with Operations Coordinator and General Managers to align repair timelines
- Submit invoices for contractor work or timecards if hourly
- Offer recommendations for outsourced specialty repairs when beyond scope
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in facility maintenance, ideally within restaurant, retail, or light industrial settings
- Some maintenance/handyman experience preferred (not required)
- Comfortable using basic tools and ladders
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Dependable and detail-oriented
- Flexible availability (some weekends/evenings)
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing, refrigeration, and basic electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and basic schematics
- Familiarity with health code and OSHA standards preferred
Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Any legally required certifications for plumbing/electrical/HVAC work must be maintained by contractor
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Comfortable working in confined, elevated, or hot/cold spaces
