Position Summary: Garden Sales Associate
The primary responsibility for all positions within FL Davis Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time and uphold the Core Values as determined by the management team. Garden Sales Associates are responsible for ensuring excellent customer service in the garden center and hardware store including engaging the customer, determining their needs, and projecting requirements.

As a Garden Sales Associate, you'll enjoy the satisfaction of helping customers find the perfect gardening solutions while developing your sales skills in a dynamic and supportive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with plant and gardening product selections and inquiries.
- Maintain a clean and organized garden section.
- Provide knowledgeable advice and tips on plant care and gardening techniques.
- Rotating stock to maintain freshness, and identifying potential overstock issues.
- Monitor/maintain the health of plants by watering, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and treating pests and diseases.
- Engage with customers, provide plant selection advice, promote products, and address customer concerns.
- Design and maintain attractive plant displays, including signage and pricing, to maximize sales potential.
- Execute daily operational, day-to-day goals, and priorities assigned by store management. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the detail.
- Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, actively participate in huddle meetings, and share ideas for improvement.
- Install/remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required by sales events, flyers, etc.
- Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
- Handle special orders for all non-stock items.
- Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting.
- Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
- Serve Customers in assigned departments, or storewide, and provide needed advice or information, greet customers as soon as you encounter them.
- Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and use the Magic Question.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisement so you can tell customers about special sales.
- Always wear your radio and headset in order to effectively communicate with other associates or management.
- Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- A strong understanding of plant identification, plant care practices, gardening techniques, pest and disease management.
- Basic horticulture knowledge
- Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members
- Skilled at providing prompt, friendly and attentive customer service
- Strong organizational skills with a passion for details
- Willing to learn all areas of the store and help train others
- Proven track record of being a team player
- Knowledge and experience of Lawn and Garden department is strongly desired.
- A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
- Availability must be flexible including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills strongly preferred
Physical Requirements
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties
- Move and handle merchandise up to 80 pounds, and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth
- Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The associate will be working in outside weather conditions.
