We are looking for passionate leaders who are ready to join us in taking our restaurant to the next level. The largest responsibility as a Kitchen Manager is the ability to lead teams of at least 8 people or more, and run a smooth kitchen shift that results in fresh and crave-able food that leaves guests coming back for more. This involves following food safety standards set forth by the Virginia Department of Health and Chick-fil-A.


Kitchen Manager Scheduling Requirements:


The work schedule for this job will rotate to include a combination of opening, mid, and closing shifts. Please apply only if you are available to work anytime between the hours of 5am to 11pm Monday through Saturday.


Competitive Pay:


Full-time starts off at $16.00 per hour but varies depending on experience and availability provided.

Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:

  • Perform and fulfill positions in the kitchen as needed, which include but are not limited to: filet and bread raw chicken, cook raw chicken on the grill or in the pressure fryers, transfer cooked chicken to assembly line, assemble sandwiches and other special orders, box nuggets and strips, prepare pre-made or customized salad options, and drop multiple fry baskets at once and place in fry shoot according to demand.
  • Oversee general maintenance of the kitchen and exterior of the restaurant and other parts of the facility and equipment involved.
  • Maintain food safety requirements, day-to-day inventory of the restaurant, first-in and first-out rotations, date labeling, temperature checks, and maintenance of raw chicken cabinets and outside trash area.
  • Accomplish specific cleaning and/ stocking tasks and assign them based on volume of the business, the business day, or for end-of-shift tasks for kitchen team members.
  • Run team member breaks efficiently and based on the needs of the restaurant.
  • Prepare in advanced for shifts by completing kitchen setups and communicating with other restaurant leaders.
  • Prepare kitchen setup based upon business factors such as business day, expected catering, projected volume, and more.
  • Lead food safety inspections on a quarterly basis.
  • Attend weekly meetings with kitchen and front counter and drive-thru leaders to evaluate the business and the current needs.
  • Help to create and maintain a fun work environment and positive culture.
  • Continuously train and coach on positive and negative behaviors exhibited by other restaurant leaders and team members who work in the Kitchen or other areas.




Kitchen Manager Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation with a current driver's license is required.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States and able to provide the necessary documentation.
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 to 5 year of management experience in a kitchen and/ restaurant.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with open, mid, or closing shifts.
  • Work at least 40 hours a week in the restaurant.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and delegate a team of individuals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead the kitchen with passion and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • ServSafe certification is preferred. Must obtain a Food Handler Card for the City of Portsmouth if not ServSafe certified.
